After a ten year career working with animals, I found an incredible sense of authenticity in my yoga practice when I moved from Florida to NYC in 2015. As a long time practitioner of martial arts, I follow the wisdom from the principles of Budo and understand that the true mastery to any discipline comes from cultivating one’s inner strength. What started as a means of physical healing, my yoga practice quickly revealed an intricate connection between the moral codes of Budo and the eight-limbed path of Yoga.
Focusing on centered and mindful movement, I emphasize fluid transitions between asana and exploring ways of releasing the emotional and physical tension in both the mind and body. I am particularly sensitive to shoulder and hip injuries as I have suffered from both hip dysplasia and shoulder muscle tears.
My background in Science has taught me that progress happens when there is space for growth. So I encourage everyone to release any expectation or self judgment. If we approach Yoga with curiosity and playfulness, then the spark of our own potential can thrive. If we do the work with intention in moments of stillness, then deep in the chaos we have clarity.
I am Yoga Alliance certified with RYT-500 hours through Sonic Yoga in NYC. I have a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I train regularly in both disciplines and compete in Jiu Jitsu. I love listening to House music and ride a motocycle rain or shine.
